“Whose University Is It? The Fight Against Austerity and Corporatization at Trent”
Run time: 48m / Discussion: 30m
March 6, 6 pm, Kingston Hall. FREE.
Queen’s Students Vs. Cuts invite you to a collective viewing of this 2003 documentary film, as a critical examination of the role of corporate funding in post-secondary education. Directed by Mark Wright and James Motluk, the film follows the evolution of what was once a student-centered campus into an institution that operates as a corporation, positioning students as consumers and churning out skilled workers based on the demands of the market. Escalating into a Supreme Court of Ontario case and an occupation of the vice president’s office, the film has become an important part of the anti-austerity movement.
All are welcome! Join us for free pizza, the film screening, and some great discussion.
